Background Information
Brian Robeson is a thirteen-year-old boy from New York City, aboard a Cessna 406 heading to the Canadian oil fields to visit his dad. Think about if you would be able to take control of this plane and make an emergency landing in the wilderness.
The pilot tells Brian, "All of flying is easy. Just takes learning. Like everything else. Like everything else (11)." Why do you think this is an example of foreshadowing (clues of something that will happen later in the novel)? The Canadian wilderness where Brian landed is probably similar to this view.

Brian's father is a mechanical engineer working for the Canadian oil fields. This is probably what Brian thought he would be seeing.
The Cessna pilot suffers a heart attack. Click here to learn more about heart attacks: www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/heartattack/ |
